Standard Deluxe

Last night I went to a concert in the thriving metropolis of Waverly, AL. I saw these amazing people:
That's right. The Civil Wars. The fresh faces of Southern folk remind me of older times. If you have never listened to them, check out "Barton Hollow" and "Poison & Wine" first. They are incredible. Joy Williams has just enough of a warble for their harmonies to be right up my alley.
This is obviously not who I saw, but this was the only picture I could find of this venue, The Standard Deluxe. It was so cool! Everything looked old, and it was just grass where people brought blankets. I want to go back for anything there! Last but not least, good friends and cupcakes made it a wonderful night!

Top 3 Reasons I Love Spring

Praise be to God for His glorious creation!

And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”

Kudzu

In the past couple weeks I’ve been doing a lot of driving. The lake, Wetupmka, Fairhope, the beach, back to Auburn and so on and so on. The Lord has graciously used drive time ever since I’ve been at college to give me a little glimpse of peace. I think this time is so beautiful for three reasons.
#1)The hymns I listen to. I have an obsession with hymns to new music. This topic is way too much to take on in this blog, it deserves one of it’s own. So stay posted loyal followers. (oh wait...) Anyways, these hymns remind me of the Gospel over and over again, and that is always good for my heart.
#2)The actual action of driving. Driving is so methodical that it is comforting and gives my mind time to go places it wants to, rather than be overwhelmed with the to do list of the day. It’s also nice to be by myself. I am definitely an extrovert. I thrive off of being with other people. But in college I am constantly surrounded, and I have realized that some time by myself is absolutely crucial. I have learned to crave a chance to unwind and be still.
#3)Alabama back roads. I know this sounds strange, but there is something about them that gets me every time. I am a country girl at heart, and I love all the grass and old little houses. I love the tiny map dot towns and the wooden barns covered in kudzu. I feel like I’m out of the hustle and bustle of suburbia and almost into the past. It’s fun to wonder about the people that live there.
So to sum up, if you are stressed out, get in your car, pop in some Red Mountain Music, and go visit the thriving metropolises of Union, Notasulga, or Pecanderosa, Alabama. It works for me!

Hanging Out

This is where I spent my entire life last week. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, and I decided to take full advantage of that! This is on Samford lawn. We shouted War Eagle at passing tours and saw so many people we know! Needless to say, I got squat done as far as school is concerned. So this week, it's time to buckle down.
Shout out to Sellers for sharing your hammocks! Gracias!
